G2 Esports Ventures into New Strategy Game
G2 Esports is making waves by diving into another competitive title under the Riot Games banner. Known for its strong presence in League of Legends and Valorant, G2 is now set to compete in Teamfight Tactics, Riot’s popular autobattler. The organization recently announced the addition of four French players: Laurent ‘Pas de Bol’ Cidere, Muhammed ‘Canbizz’ Canbaz, Emre ‘Double61’ Demirtas, and Enzo ‘Enzosx’ Bordonzotti. Notably, Canbaz and Demirtas previously played for Karmine Corp.
This marks G2 Esports’ return to TFT competition for the first time since 2022, according to Liquipedia.
Teamfight Tactics will once again take center stage at the Esports World Cup in July 2026, boasting a hefty $500K prize pool. The tournament will feature 16 teams, selected through an open qualifier process. While TFT is generally an individual-focused esport, the EWC will adopt a team-based format, necessitating that organizations sign multiple players for the competitive season.
Beyond the EWC, Riot Games also runs its own competitive circuit for TFT. Each set culminates in a Tactician’s Crown tournament, with the next one scheduled for the end of March. The 2026 season will wrap up with the Vegas Open in December.
Last year, several esports organizations made similar moves by signing players in individual esports and niche titles once they were confirmed as part of the Esports World Cup lineup.
