Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Title Unveiled in Emotional Reveal Video

Paramount Pictures and Sega have officially announced the title for the upcoming Sonic film: it will be called Sonic the Hedgehog 4. This means we can put aside other potential titles like Sonic CD, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I – Parabellum, or Amy the Hedgehog feat. Sonic.

For those who might be feeling let down by the lack of inventive sequel names in Hollywood, there’s some exciting news. The cast for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 includes returning favorites: Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, Idris Elba as Knuckles, Keanu Reeves as Shadow, James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski, and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stone. Additionally, Kristen Bell is set to join the Sonic universe as Amy Rose, and director Jeff Fowler is back for his fourth outing.

Joining the cast are talented voice actors Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Nick Offerman, and Richard Ayoade, though their roles remain under wraps.

A new teaser trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 has dropped, but it doesn’t reveal much about the sequel’s plot, aside from a focus on Amy Rose and her iconic hammer, which is highlighted by a pink “4” in the film’s title design. Fans can expect the usual mix of anthropomorphic alien animals, Chaos Emeralds, and plenty of high-speed action.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is set to race into theaters on March 19, 2027. Additionally, there’s a mysterious Sonic spinoff in the works, scheduled for a December 22, 2028 release.

The previous film left viewers with a hint of Amy Rose’s arrival and the introduction of Metal Sonic. While Dr. Robotnik’s fate was uncertain at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, we now know Jim Carrey will reprise his role, though the specifics of his character’s return remain a mystery.

What could be better than one Jim Carrey? Two Jims Carrey!
