You might think that cleaning a chimney during the Actions Speak Louder than Words quest would be a straightforward task for Cliff, the rugged protagonist of Crimson Desert. However, controlling Cliff can feel a bit like navigating Octodad at times: he’s a hefty character with a lot of momentum, and there are numerous button combinations to memorize.
Cleaning the chimney at Muckroot Ranch for a bickering couple isn’t exactly exhilarating (though their antics are amusing), so you’ll want to wrap this chore up quickly. Here’s how to tackle the chimney sweep task.
To clean the chimney in Actions Speak Louder than Words, start by grabbing the broom located to the left of the front door and equip it in your inventory like a weapon. Next, climb onto the roof of the house (there’s a stack of boxes at the back). It’s crucial to jump on top of the chimney, hold CTRL or the left bumper on your controller to aim the broom inside the pot, and then ‘attack’ to use the broom.
Cliff will perform a unique animation where he sweeps the chimney, sending up a cloud of smoke. If you’re not positioned correctly, he’ll just hit the chimney pot instead, as if he’s wielding a spear—I spent way too long figuring this out the hard way.
Once the chimney is clean, head back to the arguing couple outside the house to receive the Hernandian Attire, which allows you to enter Hernand Castle.
While you’re in the area, don’t forget to grab the Hidden Treasure Map Piece 7 from the model of the town to the north on your way back into Hernand.
