Crimson Desert Developers Commit to Improving Controls Following Player Feedback on Discomfort

No matter your feelings about Crimson Desert, it’s clear the game has its share of issues. One of the most significant complaints revolves around its control scheme, which many players find unintuitive and confusing. Fortunately, the developers at Pearl Abyss have acknowledged this feedback and are currently working on a patch to improve the situation.

In their announcement, Pearl Abyss stated, “Since launch, we have been listening closely to your feedback and doing our best to make improvements to the game. In particular, we are aware of the discomfort many players have experienced with the controls, and we are currently preparing a patch to address this.”

Crimson Desert features a variety of peculiar control choices, making it difficult to list them all. A prime example of the issue can be found in a video by CohhCarnage, where the awkwardness of needing to press both a shoulder button and a trigger simultaneously for a single attack is highlighted.

The notice also included an apology for not delivering a satisfactory control experience for PC players. “We also want to apologize for not providing keyboard and mouse players with a satisfactory gameplay experience. Please know we are taking your feedback seriously and working to improve your gameplay experience as quickly as possible.”

It seems that the keyboard and mouse controls have their own quirks. For instance, binding sprint to the Shift key has been criticized as an odd choice, requiring players to mash it to increase speed, which could lead to discomfort during long gaming sessions and might even trigger Sticky Keys.

While Pearl Abyss claims to be “listening closely” to player feedback, their announcement notably omitted any mention of the AI art controversy that surfaced in Crimson Desert recently. It’s possible they prefer to address that quietly in a future update rather than drawing further attention to it. We’ll have to wait and see if it remains an issue when the control scheme patch is released.
