Riftbound Unveils Full-Art Jhin Virtuoso Card for Unleashed

In League of Legends, Jhin transcends the role of a mere psychopathic killer; he perceives murder as a form of art. Known as “The Virtuoso,” this masked Ionian marksman orchestrates his elaborate killings like theatrical performances, all while harboring a peculiar fixation on the number four. His hand cannon, Whisper, is limited to four shots, with the final bullet infused with dark magic to unleash extra damage. His official description captures this essence: “Using his gun as his paintbrush, Jhin creates works of artistic brutality, horrifying victims and onlookers.”

Now, as he enters the Riftbound trading card game with the new set titled Unleashed, his obsessions take center stage in the cards featuring him. The expansion is set to launch in China on April 10, followed by an English release on May 8. This set introduces a host of new Champion Legends, including Jhin, along with fresh mechanics like Ambush, XP, and Hunt.

A new art treatment for his legend card, Jhin – Virtuoso, has been revealed. In the standard version, Jhin is depicted brightly lit and front and center, brandishing his gun. However, the premium full-art version illustrated by Blaine Burgos showcases him from a more dynamic angle, revealing intricate details of his mask as he gazes adoringly at what is likely the fourth bullet for Whisper.

Jhin’s ability in this set is intricately tied to the number four. When you play a spell costing four or more energy, you can banish it. After banishing four spells this way, you trash each one, channel four runes, and draw a card. Successfully executing this strategy with high-cost spells can yield a significant boost in runes, leading to explosive turns once that fourth spell is played.

This delayed payoff synergizes well with other Jhin cards revealed for Unleashed. His Champion Unit card can traverse battlefields using its Ganking ability, generating extra resources with each move. These additional runes can then fuel other cards, such as Curtain Call, his signature spell, which employs the Repeat mechanic, allowing players to pay extra costs to amplify effects in a single turn.

Collectively, these cards promote a playstyle that aligns perfectly with Jhin’s character. Instead of overwhelming foes with relentless pressure, Jhin decks focus on meticulous setup, befitting an expert marksman. You strategically position your pieces, accumulate resources, and wait for the opportune moment to take your decisive shot.

As Jhin himself might say, it’s all about making that fourth move count.
