Samsung introduces AirDrop functionality for Galaxy S26 smartphones.

Samsung is set to enhance the Quick Share feature on Galaxy devices by introducing AirDrop support, starting with the S26 series. The rollout kicks off in Korea today, with US devices expected to receive the update later this week. More regions, including the rest of North America, Latin America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Japan, and Taiwan, will gain access to this feature in the future.

This update enables owners of the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus, and S26 Ultra to seamlessly share files with Apple devices via a speedy wireless connection. With this addition, Samsung becomes the second Android smartphone manufacturer to incorporate native AirDrop support, following Google’s development of its own interoperability solution for AirDrop last year, which was implemented in the Pixel 10 series in November 2025 and later in the Pixel 9 series in February.

It’s important to note that AirDrop support on Galaxy devices isn’t activated by default. Users can enable it by navigating to the Settings menu, selecting Connected devices > Quick Share > Share with Apple devices. A toggle for AirDrop will then appear, along with a notification indicating that both Apple and Samsung devices must have their sharing settings set to “Everyone” mode to facilitate file transfers.
