Apple May Introduce Ads in Maps This Summer
Apple is gearing up to introduce advertisements in its Maps app for both mobile and web users, as reported by a reliable source. These ads could be announced soon, with a rollout expected this summer. Businesses will have the opportunity to bid for top positions in search results on Apple Maps, meaning that if a restaurant wins the bid for terms like “sushi” or “pizza,” it could appear at the top of search results, overshadowing other options.
This approach mirrors the advertising model used by Google Maps, where businesses can pay for better visibility in search outcomes. This initiative is set to boost revenue for Apple’s services division, which oversees the App Store, Apple Music, Apple TV, iCloud, and advertising, and generated over $109 billion in 2025. Apple already incorporates ads in its App Store, as well as in its News and Stocks apps. Additionally, the company has informed developers about plans to expand ad placements in App Store search results in the UK and Japan, with a US and global launch anticipated by the end of the month.
