Completing the Contradiction quest in Crimson Desert can be a bit challenging. Unlike previous investigations like Close Threat, where you present evidence to Shakatu, this quest revolves around choosing between two options.
There are no items to collect; your choices depend on how closely you paid attention to the testimonies of the suspects during the investigation. If you sometimes miss details in NPC dialogue, here’s the order of responses you need to give to identify the thief who stole the forbidden book.
When you talk to the Institute Steward, he will go through each suspect, and you’ll need to select one of two responses. Here’s what to say in sequence:
Afterward, you’ll be directed to apprehend Javier near the library. A cutscene will play where you take him down, and then it’s just a matter of tying him up and delivering him like a bounty to the authorities in the nearby courtyard.
You’ll receive your reward, completing The Weight of Knowledge quest.
