Nintendo to Lower Prices for Digital Switch 2 Games

Nintendo has announced plans to lower the prices of digital titles exclusive to the Switch 2 starting in May. This new pricing structure is already in effect for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, which is available for preorder at $59.99 for the digital version and $69.99 for the physical copy.

In their announcement, Nintendo emphasized that both physical and digital versions of Switch 2 games will deliver the same gaming experience. They explained that the price adjustment “simply reflects the different costs associated with producing and distributing each format.” However, it remains unclear if similar price changes will occur in other regions, as the UK version of Amazon still lists Yoshi and the Mysterious Book at approximately $55.74, as noted by @Wario64.

Nintendo also pointed out that “retail partners set their own prices for physical and digital games, and pricing for each title may vary.” The pricing for Switch 2 games has shown some variation, with titles like Donkey Kong Bananza and Pokémon Pokopia priced at $69.99, while Mario Kart World is listed at $79.99.

The Switch 2 launched last year to record-breaking sales, but Nintendo has since reduced production in response to declining demand in the US, according to reports.
