Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Translator Claims Dismissal Due to Warhorse’s Shift to AI for Future Translations
Max Hejtmánek, the English editor and voice-over director for Warhorse Studios’ critically acclaimed RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, announced that his role has been rendered “obsolete” following the studio’s decision to implement AI for all future translations.
Hejtmánek shared this news on the r/kingdomcome subreddit, where moderators confirmed his identity. His LinkedIn profile has also been updated to reflect that he is no longer with Warhorse Studios as of March 2026.
The studio has been contacted for a response.
Since 2022, Hejtmánek served as the Czech to English translator and editor for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. He indicated that he was actively working on additional content or a separate project when he was let go, stating he “did in fact have work to do” prior to the announcement.
In his post, Hejtmánek recounted, “Yesterday, March 27th, 2026, with no forewarning, I was invited to a meeting and promptly told that, in an effort to ‘make the company more effective’ and ‘save finances,’ my position would become ‘obsolete’ next month in favor of using AI for all translations going forward.”
He expressed his shock, noting that while discussions about AI in translation had occurred before, he never anticipated it would jeopardize his job. “I had, of course, thought about it many times, but I naively believed my contributions were valued enough to keep me safe.”
Feeling betrayed by the management he had grown to care for over nearly four years, Hejtmánek lamented the loss of daily interactions with his colleagues. He added, “To all management at Warhorse, I won’t be breaking my NDA, nor am I seeking my job back or pursuing legal action, but I won’t stay silent about my experience.”
His dismissal follows recent endorsements of generative AI from the studio’s senior leadership. Co-founder Daniel Vávra has shown strong support for the technology, recently praising Nvidia’s DLSS 5 AI filter on social media, stating, “This is just a little uncanny beginning. No way haters will stop this.”
Hejtmánek mentioned that there is still one other in-house localizer at the studio, at least for now. One fan on the subreddit cautioned, “Warhorse, if you’re in here, you’re gonna set your next game up for failure with decisions like this. People don’t like this kind of crap.”
