Crimson Desert’s upcoming update aims to enhance controls and replace AI-generated art.

Crimson Desert’s Patch 1.01 launched on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S this past Saturday, marking the game’s most significant update to date. This patch introduces five new mounts for players to summon and explore the expansive world of Pywel, alongside various control enhancements and quality-of-life improvements. It also initiates the removal of AI-generated art from the game.

Recently, players discovered several paintings in Crimson Desert that were created using generative AI, which caught many off guard since the developers hadn’t previously disclosed this aspect of the game’s development. Following player feedback, the developers committed to replacing these assets. One note in the patch details mentions, “as part of ongoing visual improvements, replaced select 2D visual assets to better align with the game’s art direction,” indicating that the transition away from AI art is underway. This is a positive step for those who prefer traditional art styles in their gaming experience.

On the content front, the update transforms two boss mounts and three legendary creatures into usable mounts. Players can now summon and ride the White Bear, Silver Fang, Snowwhite Deer, Rock Tusk Warthog, and Icicle Edge Alpine Ibex as they traverse Pywel and its towns.

Patch 1.01 also implements numerous quality-of-life adjustments aimed at reducing player frustration. For instance, criminal acts will no longer impact Contribution unless witnessed by an NPC. Additionally, players will benefit from increased movement speed and reduced stamina costs for flight, along with shorter load times during fast travel, making exploration in Pywel smoother and more enjoyable.

Overall, this update addresses many of the concerns players have voiced since the game’s launch. If you encountered any of these minor annoyances during your initial playthrough of Crimson Desert, it might be worth diving back in. Here’s a look at the full list of patch notes:
