Utilizing Hernand Refinement Tokens in Crimson Desert: A Guide

Refinement Tokens have been introduced in the packed 1.01 update for Crimson Desert. You may have noticed a pop-up indicating that you’ve received some Hernand Refinement Tokens, but their purpose isn’t immediately clear. As the name suggests, these tokens are used for refining gear, and they can save you a lot of time, so make sure to take advantage of them.

In addition to Hernand Refinement Tokens, there are also tokens for other regions like Pailune and Delesyia, but you’ll need to progress further in the game to unlock and utilize those. Below, I’ll break down what Refinement Tokens are, how to use them, and how to acquire more when you run low.

You can use Refinement Tokens instead of traditional materials to get free gear refinements up to Stage 4. Just visit the main blacksmith in your region. For instance, you can exchange Hernand Refinement Tokens at the smithy in Turnali, Hernand City. The process is the same for tokens from other regions.

When you’re at a blacksmith, select the refinement option as you normally would. Instead of providing the usual resources, click on the Refinement Token tab and proceed to refine. This will consume one token to upgrade your gear by one level, allowing you to save your valuable upgrade materials.

Using Refinement Tokens is particularly beneficial early in the game when resources are scarce and you need a quick gear boost. However, keep in mind that they can only be used for upgrades up to Level 4, so you’ll still need to gather ores, leather, and other materials for higher-level enhancements. They serve as a convenient option rather than a complete solution.

You can earn Refinement Tokens through specific main missions and faction quests, which is likely how you’ve already collected a few after logging in post-update.
