Xbox’s Summer Showcase Features In-Depth Look at Gears of War: E-Day

E3 may be a thing of the past, but Xbox is gearing up for a comeback in early June with its highly anticipated press conference. This gaming showcase will spotlight Gears of War: E-Day Direct, positioning it as one of Microsoft’s major fall titles for 2026.

The announcement came from Asha Sharma, the new head of Xbox, who emphasized that this event is part of “the return of Xbox.” This year’s show will also include a live audience component, a shift back to the traditional format after Microsoft leaned heavily on pre-recorded presentations in recent years.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, June 7.

The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 is set to deliver an in-depth look at Gears of War: E-Day Direct.

“In my first month, I heard clearly that our community values Xbox FanFest,” Sharma shared on social media. “As part of the return of Xbox, we made the decision to bring it back to LA to honor the players who’ve supported us over the years.”

If Sharma takes the stage for a live segment, it will mark the first summer showcase in over a decade not led by the recently retired Phil Spencer. This year is significant for Xbox, celebrating its 25th anniversary, and there are plenty of exciting titles on the horizon, including a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and a new Fable.

We might also catch a glimpse of Microsoft’s next-gen console, codenamed Project Helix. Perhaps we’ll see a silhouette of the hardware or even a launch date, though the price tag is likely to be steep due to the ongoing AI-driven RAM shortage.
