Is Fire Force anime complete? Not just yet.

Fire Force is the hidden treasure of the winter 2026 anime season. While shows like Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End and Jujutsu Kaisen dominate the spotlight, Fire Force stands out as an innovative and thrilling series that is wrapping up with its third season. Although production delays and a split cour schedule have dampened some of the excitement, the conclusion of Atsushi Ohkubo’s manga adaptation is a significant moment, keeping fans eagerly anticipating each episode. The big question remains: When will Fire Force season 3 actually conclude?

Surprisingly, it won’t end with episode 24. Initially, it was thought that the second cour of season 3 would mirror the first, totaling 24 episodes, but that turned out to be incorrect. Episode 24, titled “Answer,” aired on March 28, and it was not the series finale. The intense showdown between Shinra and Sho against the Evangelist and Haumea continues in Adolla, following the shocking destruction of Earth.

As they fight to breach Haumea’s defenses, Shinra and Sho are joined by Mari Kusakabe, Sho’s mother, in her Infernal form. It’s revealed that Mari is the Evangelist’s Doppelganger, which allowed her to survive while retaining her personality. After an emotional reunion, Shinra unlocks a new ability called Soul Resonance, enabling him to merge his soul with those of Sho and Mari, resulting in the creation of the formidable Shinrabanshoman, a symbol of hope. If Soul Resonance sounds familiar, it’s because this technique is a key element in Ohkubo’s other work, Soul Eater, suggesting that the world Shinrabanshoman creates in this episode is connected to the universe of the earlier series, effectively making Fire Force a sort of prequel.

However, episode 24 concludes with Haumea still attempting to thwart Shinrabanshoman. As the embodiment of humanity’s subconscious, she remains convinced that annihilation is the only solution to suffering, and Shinra has yet to sway her or confront the Evangelist. This indicates that at least one more episode is on the way, with episode 25 set to release on April 3. A promotional video hints that this will be the season’s final episode, bringing Fire Force to a close.
