Mario Kart World Update Brings Back Beloved Mode Following Earlier Tease
Nintendo is currently facing some buzz after leaker Nate the Hate revealed that a new Star Fox title and a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time are both slated for 2026. Earlier this month, Nintendo also hinted at a fan-favorite mode making its way to Mario Kart World, and that mode is now live.
In a late-night update on Monday, Bob-omb Blast was introduced to Mario Kart World. In this mode, players race around the tracks armed only with bombs, aiming to pop their opponents’ balloons to earn points. Bob-omb Blast joins the ranks of the game’s battle modes, which also include Coin Runners and Balloon Battle, the latter being quite similar to the newly added mode.
The update also brings several gameplay tweaks and fixes. Notably, two items are receiving adjustments: Bullet Bill and the boomerang. Bullet Bill is getting a boost with improved lateral movement and increased speed on select courses, including Bowser’s Castle, Starview Peak, and Rainbow Road. Conversely, the boomerang is being toned down, with its range and the number of throws being reduced.
You can find the full patch notes below. If you haven’t tried Mario Kart World yet and the addition of Bob-omb Blast has piqued your interest, now’s a great time to dive in, especially with discounts available during a major sale on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 games.
