Raccoin, the coin-pusher roguelike, achieves impressive sales on Steam within its first day.

Fans of Balatro, get ready for an exciting new entry in the addictive “number go up” genre! Raccoin, a coin-pushing roguelike builder that lets you combine unique coins and powerful items for big rewards, launched on March 31. Just a day later, the developers at Doraccoon announced that Raccoin had sold over 100,000 copies on Steam within its first 24 hours.

Deven McClure took Raccoin for a test drive back in December and was pleasantly surprised by the game’s strategic depth, which belies its simple appearance. Playing Raccoin feels more like a journey toward mastery than a frustrating grind. McClure described it as a thrilling rollercoaster ride, noting moments where the game almost had him ready to quit, only for a few more coins to roll in and trigger a prize wheel spin that turned his fortunes around.

While Raccoin may not dethrone Resident Evil Requiem as the fastest-selling game of 2026 anytime soon, selling 100,000 copies in a single day is a remarkable feat for a small team, especially in a challenging industry landscape. With nearly 20,000 new games released in 2025 alone, indie developers face significant hurdles in getting noticed. At GDC in February, Valve stirred controversy when representatives claimed that nearly 6,000 games earned $100,000 or more on their platform last year, a statement many viewed as out of touch with the real struggles developers are facing.
