Grab One of Gaming’s Greatest Trilogies for Less Than the Price of a Sandwich!
The return to the Mass Effect universe remains uncertain, but we can always revisit the iconic games that introduced us to it. If you’ve yet to experience BioWare’s legendary sci-fi trilogy and are curious about the hype, now’s a great time to dive in. The Legendary Edition remasters are available for just six dollars on PlayStation and Xbox.
The first three Mass Effect RPGs, along with most of their DLC, are on sale for $6 on both platforms until April 9. While they boast enhanced resolution and framerate on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, these titles are technically designed for PS4 and Xbox One. So, if the rising costs of new consoles have you feeling priced out, you can still enjoy BioWare’s masterpiece on older systems for less than the price of a sandwich.
Mass Effect and its first two sequels follow Commander Shepard, a human soldier embroiled in an intergalactic conspiracy with potentially catastrophic consequences. Each game features significant choices that carry over throughout the trilogy. While not every decision has the monumental impact fans might have hoped for, it remains one of the most remarkable examples of a studio giving real narrative weight to player choices across multiple titles. It was a bold move at the time, and it’s no wonder that few have attempted to replicate it since.
Following the trilogy, BioWare released the polarizing Mass Effect: Andromeda and is currently developing a fifth installment after undergoing significant restructuring last year. Additionally, an Amazon series is in the works, though it seems to have encountered some hurdles, with the company requesting rewrites aimed at “non-gamers.” This series will take place after the original trilogy, raising intriguing questions about how it will maintain continuity with the games, especially given the various outcomes players could achieve by the end of Mass Effect 3.
