Season 3 of Netflix’s One Piece is arriving sooner than anticipated.
The Straw Hats’ Log Pose is guiding Netflix’s One Piece back to streaming sooner than expected, with the announcement of its third season set to drop in 2027. This timeline is a pleasant surprise compared to the lengthy gap between the first two seasons, which aired in 2023 and 2026.
Titled The Battle for Alabasta, season 3 will follow Luffy and his crew as they embark on a journey to the Egyptian-inspired Alabasta Kingdom. After pledging to assist their new ally, Princess Vivi, in saving her homeland from the nefarious Mr. Crocodile and his Baroque Works, the season will adapt the Alabasta Arc from the manga. This arc marks One Piece’s first venture into high-stakes storytelling, with the fate of an entire kingdom resting on Luffy’s shoulders.
Returning from season 2 are not just the Straw Hats but also their allies and foes: Charithra Chandran as Princess Vivi, Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, Joe Manganiello as Mr. 0, Lera Abova as Miss All Sunday, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta. They will be joined by Xolo Maridueña, known from Cobra Kai, portraying Luffy’s brother Portgas D. Ace, and Cole Estola as the flamboyant yet lovable assassin, Bon Clay.
Given the lengthy production time for season 2, it’s exciting to see Netflix’s One Piece returning in 2027. A quicker turnaround for future seasons could become the norm, especially as the One Piece manga approaches its 1,200th chapter, with the anime not far behind in episode count. If Netflix aims to adapt Eiichiro Oda’s expansive saga in full, a nearly three-year wait for new content isn’t sustainable—unless they plan to transition Iñaki Godoy from Luffy to his grandfather Garp.
With the stakes in Alabasta escalating to unprecedented levels, season 3 will be a crucial test for the live-action adaptation’s ability to keep pace with a manga that continues to grow more ambitious and spectacular with each new arc. This show is ready to embrace the future.
