Crimson Desert Addresses Major Endgame Issue with a Surprising Solution
Crimson Desert is an expansive game packed with hundreds of hours of content, yet players have already plowed through most of it within three weeks of its launch. A common complaint among those who have reached the endgame is the lack of enemies to battle. For instance, one player noted that after clearing regions and advancing in the main quest, the map feels too barren of foes.
It’s important to recognize that a single-player game can run out of activities once everything is completed. Not every title needs to offer an endless stream of tasks. However, in the case of Crimson Desert, this becomes an issue since some challenges require a consistent influx of enemies to tackle. Fortunately, there’s a workaround. You just need to uncover one of the game’s more obscure—and slightly eerie—secrets.
Early in your journey, while still engaged in story quests in Hernand, the first region, you’ll come across the Reed Devil storyline. This leads to a boss encounter in a field of reeds within the Mountain of Frozen Souls area. Just south of this location lies a village called Sunset Valley, where you can find the Reed Devil’s former residence.
Enter the northernmost building, and you’ll be greeted by a group of T-posing mannequins, all donning the same cloth helmets worn by the Reed Devil’s minions. On the floor, there’s a book titled “Tales of Sunset Valley,” alongside the “Mask of the Devil of the Reed Field.” If you pick up the mask, you’ll trigger an endless supply of enemies.
The next time you venture through the field where you faced the Reed Devil, you’ll be swarmed by stationary scarecrows. Get too close, and they’ll morph into his minions. You can easily escape on horseback, but they also provide a fantastic, not overly challenging, opportunity for XP and farming.
You can end this enemy spawn at any time by removing the mask from your inventory, such as by storing it at your camp. However, as the book explains, carrying the mask marks you as their Chosen One. Tough luck!
