Exciting New PS5 Dashboard Update Surfaces, and It Looks Impressive!
A fresh layout for the PlayStation 5 home menu appears to be in the works, and it’s looking quite sleek. The new design shifts system apps and the PSN Store icons to a top row, making navigation a breeze.
According to a recent Reddit post, a participant in the PS5 beta program launched their console and was greeted by this revamped dashboard. The updated UI showcases the PSN Store, media, and PS Plus management menu in a new upper section, allowing players to easily switch between these features using the R1 and L1 buttons.
Another Twitter user shared a different snapshot of the new interface currently being tested by some beta users, lending credibility to the idea that this is a legitimate trial rather than a prank. While there’s been no official word from Sony about this new home layout, the polished appearance suggests it could be rolled out to all players in an upcoming system update.
I think this new layout is a smart change! I liked Sony’s last big shake-up of the PS5 home screen, adding useful pins and a startup submenu. It’s one of those changes that I barely think about now, yet has been useful to have around. I think it might take a few weeks for my muscle memory to adapt to this new update, assuming it arrives like this on PS5. But I don’t mind. This new shift to moving those icons and apps to the top of the home menu and having them be easily flipped through using L1/R1 seems very smart, and honestly, I’m not sure why it hasn’t been like this for years now.
