Sierra, the latest hero in Overwatch, unveiled in an animated trailer showcasing her abilities.
The next hero making her debut in Overwatch is Sierra, a fresh Damage-role character with a captivating set of abilities. The announcement came on Wednesday, accompanied by a new trailer that dives into her backstory. This follows a teaser showcasing her artwork that was shared last week.
In the animated trailer set at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa, Sierra confronts another newcomer, Emre, who is in the process of retrieving an undisclosed asset. We catch a glimpse of Sierra’s abilities, which feature a fully automatic energy rifle and her drone companion, DoROTHy. She can tether herself to DoROTHy for swift movement across the battlefield. Notably, her rifle can fire a targeting dart, which she uses on Emre, embedding it into his armor. This dart then redirects and unleashes a barrage on Emre’s location, culminating in an explosive finish that takes him out.
While we haven’t seen any in-game footage yet—likely to be revealed later this week—the trailer gives a solid preview of what Sierra will contribute to the Damage role in Overwatch’s upcoming season 2.
Sierra is set to join the roster with the launch of season 2 on April 14, as confirmed by Blizzard.
In February, Blizzard relaunched Overwatch, dropping the “2” from the title and introducing five new heroes: Domina (Tank), Anran (Damage), Emre (Damage), Jetpack Cat (Support), and Mizuki (Support). The plan is to add a total of 10 new heroes by 2026, with Sierra being one of them.
Overwatch is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. A native version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is also set to launch on April 14 alongside season 2.
10 new heroes, a year-long story, and a name change are just the beginning.
