Assassin’s Creed Blackflag Resynced – Ubisoft Confirms Game With Trailer Drop on 23rd April
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced — Ubisoft Officially Confirms the Remake We’ve All Been Waiting For
Gaming’s worst-kept secret is finally out of the bottle. Ubisoft has officially confirmed Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag Resynced, a full remake of the beloved 2013 pirate adventure, with a worldwide showcase scheduled for April 23, 2026. A release date of July 9, 2026 has also reportedly been confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
This is not a remaster. Built from the ground up on the latest iteration of Ubisoft’s proprietary Anvil engine, Resynced is a complete overhaul of the original game — and early impressions from those who’ve seen it suggest it looks stunning.
What’s Changing?
Ubisoft confirmed that Black Flag Resynced will not be an RPG. It will remain a “single-player, character-driven experience” — welcome news for fans who feared the remake might follow the RPG-heavy direction of Origins, Odyssey, or Valhalla.
One notable change is the removal of the modern-day Abstergo Entertainment segments from the original game. The story of Resynced is expected to forego the modern-day plotline entirely, letting players relive the pirate-turned-Assassin life of Edward Kenway for the game’s full runtime.
In place of those segments comes something fans have long wanted: an expanded narrative arc for Mary Read, whose storyline was significantly trimmed in the original due to pacing issues during development. Resynced will restore and expand her story with previously unseen missions.
How Does It Look?
Even before the official showcase, footage has already surfaced online. Among the leaked images are shots of Edward Kenway alongside Blackbeard, the pirate stalking a target in the shadows, and a brief clip of Kenway and the crew of the Jackdaw engaging in naval warfare — and it looks absolutely stunning in modern fidelity.
What’s Next?
The full reveal is set for April 23, where Ubisoft is expected to show official gameplay and confirm remaining details. Keep your eyes on the seas — Edward Kenway is coming back, and this time he’s got a lot more story to tell.
