Gen V, the spinoff of The Boys, is canceled, but its characters will return in the future.

School’s out, but it’s not the end just yet. The spinoff series Gen V has been canceled after two seasons, but Godolkin University’s up-and-coming superheroes will still make their mark. Some characters from Gen V are set to appear in the fifth and final season of The Boys, although they haven’t shown up yet in the first half of the season.

“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon,” said the series’ executive producers. “You’ll see them again.”

Currently, the only confirmed spinoffs in the works are Vought Rising and The Boys: Mexico. Vought Rising is a prequel set in the 1950s, so don’t expect to see Marie Moreau and the rest of Gen V’s crew there. Details about The Boys: Mexico are still under wraps, with a draft of its pilot still being refined.

The second season of Gen V wrapped up with Moreau and her allies being recruited by Starlight to join her fight against Homelander and Vought International. While they haven’t appeared in the first four episodes of The Boys, Starlight and A-Train have hinted that they’re working behind the scenes.

Gen V hinted at Moreau’s blood-controlling powers as a potential threat to Homelander, but the producers have played down that angle.

“Anyone thinking that Marie Moreau is going to become the clutch player in The Boys this season is going to be disappointed,” one of the producers stated ahead of the season premiere. “It’s not her show. She has a show. This is another show, and the boys are the heroes in this one.”

Fans will have to wait and see how Moreau and the rest of Gen V’s cast influence the conclusion of The Boys. New episodes of season 5 stream on Amazon Prime every Wednesday, with the series finale set for May 20.

“They really created such an incredible world.”
