Leaked Details Suggest a Vast Map for Pokémon Winds and Waves

We’ve only caught a glimpse of Pokémon WindsandWaves since its reveal in February 2026. While we know the starters and have a rough idea of the island-rich region in this open-world RPG, a recent leak may provide insight into the exact landscapes players will explore when the game launches in 2027.

This latest leak comes from a reliable source known for previous accurate Pokémon leaks, including the game’s title and starter Pokémon. Much of this information appears to originate from a 2024 breach at Game Freak, which outlined the company’s plans for the coming years.

In 2025, insiders with access to that data suggested that the new games would draw inspiration from Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia, which boasts over 17,000 islands. A game set in such a diverse region would offer plenty of exploration opportunities, especially with the vast ocean connecting these islands. Now, with credible Pokémon leakers sharing a supposed illustration of WindsandWaves filled with fragmented islands, there’s reason to take their claims seriously.

According to the map shared by the leakers, Pokémon WindsandWaves will feature around 17 islands and numerous water regions, including deep-sea areas. The map is said to include familiar Pokémon locations like hotels, ruins, power plants, and summits. Fans can also look forward to various gym types, including poison, flying, fighting, steel, dark, fairy, and normal. Additionally, the leaked map hints at intriguing features such as a wasteland area, a flowing water zone, and a ghost island.

While the map appears credible, it’s important to note that it comes from a 2024 leak of a game still in development. Some areas may be altered or omitted entirely in the final version of Pokémon WindsandWaves.

Leakers have indicated that the three-minute reveal trailer for WindsandWaves was primarily based on the first in-game island. If this is accurate, it suggests that Pokémon WindsandWaves will be expansive. Given that this will be the longest gap between mainline Pokémon games, it wouldn’t be surprising if WindsandWaves turns out to be the largest entry in the franchise to date.

As Game Freak releases more details and players dive into the game, we’ll find out if these leaks hold true. However, if even a portion of the current claims materializes, Pokémon fans have plenty to look forward to in 2027.
