House of the Dragon Season 3 Launches with Exciting New Trailer and Release Date

House of the Dragon is set to make its highly anticipated return for a third season on June 21, as revealed in a new trailer that teases the intense, history-altering battles that fans can expect following the events of season 2 of the Game of Thrones spinoff. The Dance of the Dragons and the Battle of the Gullet are on the horizon.

In the latest trailer, Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) tells his wife, “You now have the power no man has ever wielded,” emphasizing the significance of her newfound abilities. “You will have an empire unassailable, Rhaenyra. And our children will rule it forever and a day.”

However, the stakes are high. After a brutal confrontation with his brother, King Aegon Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney), at the conclusion of season 2, the ruthless Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) now occupies the Iron Throne. His mother, Alicent (Olivia Cooke), has come to terms with the reality of her son’s monstrous nature and is plotting to assist Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) and her band of dragon riders in reclaiming the Red Keep and her rightful place on the throne.

Season 3 of House of the Dragon premieres on Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. EDT/PDT, airing on HBO and available for streaming on HBO Max. This eight-episode season will roll out new episodes weekly, culminating in the season finale on August 9.

The cast of House of the Dragon includes Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, Matthew Needham, James Norton, Tom Bennett, Kieran Bew, Kurt Egyiawan, Freddie Fox, Clinton Liberty, Gayle Rankin, Abubakar Salim, Tom Cullen, Tommy Flanagan, Dan Fogler, Joplin Sibtain, and Barry Sloane.

This season marks HBO’s second foray into the world of Game of Thrones, following the six-episode series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, set to release in 2026. House of the Dragon is anticipated to conclude with a fourth season, slated for 2028.
