New Avatar Fighting Game Boosts Sokka’s Speed for His Supportive Role
This past month, the buzz around Avatar: The Last Airbender has largely centered on leaks about the upcoming animated movie, set to drop in six months. However, there’s plenty more going on in the universe of Aang and Korra beyond the drama. One exciting development is the announcement of a new 2D fighter titled Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, which will feature characters from both the original series and The Legend of Korra. Among them is Sokka, who, unlike many of his friends, doesn’t manipulate elements but still packs a punch thanks to his dedication to Suki, which enhances his abilities.
At the recent LVL UP Expo, competitive gamers Diaphone and Justin Wong showcased Sokka’s moves during a live stream. You can catch the full 30+ minute demonstration on YouTube. While Sokka lacks the elemental powers of other characters, he comes equipped with a club and a boomerang, making him a formidable rushdown fighter. His fighting style reminds me of Junpei from Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, a character I enjoyed playing, so I think I could quickly adapt to Sokka’s gameplay.
Similar to Junpei, Sokka is a devoted partner, and he takes it up a notch with an install mechanic that triggers a brief scene where Suki gives him a kiss. In this lovestruck state, he’s surrounded by hearts, and his speed gets a significant boost. Sokka is already quick on his feet, and with the power of love, he becomes an unstoppable force. This is the kind of transformation that happens when you truly love your partner—suddenly, you’re harder, better, faster, and stronger.
Sokka is going to be a problem ????
Avatar Legends is set to launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and Switch 2 on July 2.
