2025’s Lowest-Rated Game Set for Major Price Reduction

Mindseye has had a rough journey. Developed by Build A Rocket Boy, a studio founded by former Grand Theft Auto producer Leslie Benzies, this semi-open-world title launched last year to dismal reviews, earning the title of the worst-reviewed game of the year on Metacritic. However, there’s a silver lining: the game is now $25 cheaper following a recent price drop.

On April 28, Build A Rocket Boy announced that it has officially completed its transition from publisher IOI to self-publishing Mindseye. The first major change in this new chapter is a price reduction from $60 to $35 across all platforms. This isn’t just a temporary discount; it’s a permanent price cut aimed at encouraging players to give the game another chance after its rocky reception and the viral clips showcasing its bugs.

“Now is the perfect time to experience Mindseye,” said Co-CEO and CTO Mark Gerhard. “With over a year of enhancements, new content, and a more accessible price of entry, we look forward to expanding Mindseye and ARCADIA, and seeing what players and creators will accomplish next.”

Step into the shoes of world-class assassin Julia Black: two targets, one deadly deal, and a city on the brink.

In addition to the price drop, Mindseye is also rolling out its first major story DLC titled Blacklisted, which introduces a new character and focuses on espionage. Players will also gain access to new tools for creating their own in-game missions, races, and activities.

Will these changes be enough to attract players who were put off by the negative reviews and unflattering gameplay footage? It remains to be seen. Meanwhile, Gerhard has continued to point fingers at external saboteurs for tarnishing the game’s reputation and launch. In March, following more layoffs, he claimed the studio is “working with external partners and legal advisors to investigate” alleged “criminal activity” that occurred during Mindseye’s launch.
