Logitech Unveils a Hybrid Analog-Mechanical Keyboard

Every type of keyboard switch has its own set of advantages and drawbacks. Gamers accustomed to mechanical switches might find analog switches to be too quiet and soft in comparison. However, analog switches shine with their extensive customization options for input registration speed. Logitech’s latest wired G512 X model aims to bridge the gap by allowing users to mix and match switches to their liking. The company asserts that 39 of the switches in this model are compatible with nearly all popular analog, 3-pin, and 5-pin mechanical switches.

The G512 X will be available in both a compact 75-key layout and a larger 98-key layout, offered in black with purple accents or white with turquoise accents. Both configurations are set to launch on May 2nd, priced at $179.99 and $199.99, respectively, and are currently available for preorder.

A standout feature of its TMR sensors is the ability to have up to two actuation points per key, activating at different stages of your key press. This level of customization is particularly beneficial in games that require precise and sometimes rapid inputs. Logitech highlights that the second actuation point provides a tactile feedback that you can feel as you press.

These TMR switches also feature rapid trigger functionality, allowing for quick priming of inputs without the need for the keys to fully reset, which is ideal for spamming attacks or executing swift movements to outpace opponents. While these features are lost when switching from analog to mechanical switches, the option to revert is a valuable flexibility.

The hybrid switch bed is what sets the G512 X apart from its competitors, and it has the potential to become a sought-after feature in future gaming keyboards. Logitech’s model successfully combines the best of both worlds at a relatively accessible price point.
