Mastering the Arc Turbine: Tips to Conquer the New Enemy in Arc Raiders’ Riven Tides Update
The new Arc Turbine enemy introduced in the Riven Tide update of Arc Raiders is quite a formidable foe. It spawns late in a round, so you’ll need to take it down quickly to avoid missing your extraction. Its projectiles unleash lightning strikes, making it a dangerous adversary. Defeating it is essential for acquiring the new Turbine Compressor material, which is crucial for the Avian Alarm project.
This material can also be used to craft new items, such as the Powered Descender, a tool designed to mitigate fall damage. Given the Arc Turbine’s toughness, come prepared with plenty of shield rechargers and healing items. Below, I’ll guide you on locating Arc Turbines and the best strategies for taking one down.
The Arc Turbine typically appears late in the game, around the 16-13 minute mark on Riven Tides. You’ll know one is spawning when you hear a thunderous clap and see it descending from the sky. They don’t spawn consistently, so if you don’t see one by the 13-minute mark, it’s best to extract.
Occasionally, you might encounter two Arc Turbines at once. They usually spawn in the northern part of the map along the shore, with one notable combination being near the Customs House and the Port Authority Building. When an Arc Turbine lands, it will open up for a brief period before taking off again.
Taking down the Arc Turbine is no easy task—it’s significantly tougher than enemies like the Rocketeer, Vaporizer, or Bombardier. Its weak spot, a cluster of spinning yellow cylinders at its core, is only exposed when it lands. This gives you two main options for attacking it:
Once the Arc Turbine takes off, don’t attempt to shoot it while it’s airborne; it’s heavily armored and will retaliate with lightning strikes. Instead, treat it like a boss with damage phases. Wait for it to land again, then move in to set up your second Deadline or continue your assault. The challenge lies in its late spawn time and the distance from an elevator, which can vary based on luck.
The Deadline strategy is likely your best bet for a quick takedown, especially if you can navigate the mines on your approach. If you have a teammate, you could even set up two Deadlines simultaneously by approaching from the same route. The Arc Turbine lacks close-range defenses, but it will take off shortly after you get close. You can often sneak up on it or launch a surprise attack with your first Deadline, then find cover until it lands again.
Defeating an Arc Turbine and looting it will reward you with the Turbine Compressor material, necessary for crafting new gear like the Powered Descender, and you’ll need two of these materials to complete the Avian Alarm project.
