Microsoft is providing Xbox employees with dedicated Xbox email accounts.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma is making a bold statement: “We are Xbox.” Recently, she decided to drop the Microsoft Gaming name for the gaming division, opting for the straightforward Xbox branding instead. To further emphasize this shift, sources within Xbox have revealed that all employees will receive an @xbox.com email address starting next month.

This new email format will replace the current @microsoft.com addresses as the default for sending emails, although employees can choose to keep their Microsoft email as the primary option if they prefer. Additionally, Mojang employees will be assigned @mojang.com addresses, while both Xbox and Mojang staff will still have access to their @microsoft.com aliases.

This change is part of a broader initiative to “strengthen the Xbox identity inside and outside of Microsoft,” as outlined in an internal memo. While it may seem like a minor adjustment, it aligns Xbox employees more closely with the branding used by Activision and Bethesda, who have their own email domains, enhancing the overall professional appearance when interacting with third-party partners and developers.

Previously, some Xbox employees could obtain @xbox.com addresses by requesting them from Microsoft’s IT department, but this marks the first time the company is proactively rolling out these email aliases to all gaming staff.

These email updates are part of the renewed “We are Xbox” campaign. In a recent joint memo with Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty, Sharma shared their vision for the future of Xbox, highlighting the transition away from the Microsoft Gaming name and emphasizing that success will be measured by daily active players, along with a focus on hardware, content, experience, and services.
