Top Characters and Tier Rankings for Neverness to Everness

Neverness to Everness isn’t your typical gacha game where you have to constantly chase the meta to tackle mid and endgame challenges. However, having the top characters and teams can significantly simplify combat. With a diverse roster featuring unique roles, Esper types, and a slew of new gacha jargon to learn, assembling your dream team can feel a bit daunting.

After diving into the character kits, you’ll find that most of them are quite straightforward. They’re generally easy to play, with only a few exceptions. Whether you’re looking to breeze through regular content like commissions or conquer the Beyond the Rails endgame mode, this Neverness to Everness tier list will help you fine-tune your roster.

Esper: Chaos
Role: Damage
Arc: Liquid
Daffodil may not have the highest damage output, but she shines as a burst DPS attacker, particularly in Nova, Scorch, and Discord teams, making her more suited for a sub DPS role. Pair her with Psyche and Incantation characters to maximize her damage and energy restoration, allowing her to unleash her Ultimate more frequently. As the only Chaos character currently available, Daffodil is essential for activating Psyche, Incantation, and Discord Esper Cycle reactions. Remember, as a burst DPS who gains buffs when switched in, she thrives on quick team swaps, so avoid characters that require extensive field time.

Esper: Psyche
Role: Survival
Arc: Synthesis
Fadia is a damage redirector, absorbing hits meant for teammates and can self-heal with her Ultimate. If her health drops to 1 HP, damage is shared among the team, making her nearly unkillable until the rest of the squad falls. With the right Arc weapon and energy sources, you’ll rarely need her Ultimate unless in dire straits. Fadia is perfect for casual players who may struggle with perfect dodges. Pair her with Chaos, Lakshana, and Incantation characters to unlock the most Esper Cycle options.

Esper: Psyche
Role: Buff
Arc: Solid
Every gacha has its overpowered lower-ranked character, and Haniel is a prime example as an A-Class damage booster. You can snag Haniel and some Awakening copies for free just by playing. Her Nova Enhancement passive, Skill, and Ultimate all buff the team’s attack, making her incredibly valuable. While she deals decent Psyche damage, it’s more of a bonus. Pair her with a Chaos character to activate Nova and maximize her potential, or team her with Lakshana characters in Discord setups.

Esper: Anima
Role: Damage
Arc: Plasma
Nanally is a main DPS who excels at follow-up attacks, making her ideal for Blossom teams alongside Cosmos characters. As the first limited S-Class character, her damage output is noticeably higher than standard DPS, and you don’t need to master complex rotations to utilize her kit effectively. Just use her Skill, then her Ultimate, and unleash basic attacks to drain enemy HP—even in a free-to-play setup without her signature Arc weapon. Nanally can also help create Hexed Esper Cycles with Incantation characters and Charge Esper Cycles by applying Anima to Remora (Cosmos + Lakshana). Plus, her Skill lets you wall run up buildings in the open world.

Esper: Incantation
Role: Buff
Arc: Gas
Sakiri is primarily there to enhance any team with her Ultimate, especially benefiting Scorch teams through her passive skill. To maximize her effectiveness, bring along a Chaos character to gain +25% DOT damage for each Scorch state applied. Use her Skill whenever it’s available, ideally before her Ultimate, to make her an invaluable buffer. For optimal Ultimate energy generation, consider running her in a Discord team, which requires applying both Scorch and Nova (Chaos + Psyche) to enemies. A solid Arc weapon can also boost her performance.

Esper: Cosmos
Role: Damage
Arc: Solid
Isn’t it great when the main character is actually viable in a gacha? Zero isn’t just usable; they’re among the best characters in the game thanks to their Skill, which boasts a 100 Cycle Rate stat, activating an Esper Cycle instantly. You can switch to a Lakshana character to apply Remora or an Anima character for Blossom right away. With a cooldown of just 16 seconds, Zero’s Skill ensures you’re consistently applying Esper Cycle effects for maximum damage. Plus, all their free Awakening copies enhance their value, including a team-wide attack buff. Whether you’re free-to-play or a big spender, Zero is a worthy investment.

Esper: Incantation
Role: Damage
Arc: Synthesis
Baicang is a main DPS who inflicts DOTs through Scorch, so pairing him with a Chaos character is essential. He excels against both single-target bosses and groups of enemies, but mastering him can be tricky. You’ll need to execute specific combos to apply Power Words, whether facing a boss (hold basic attack on the third hit) or mobs (hold basic attack on the second hit), and ideally use his Skill after a perfect dodge. Mastering the basics can get you through endgame challenges, provided you have the right teammates and a solid Arc weapon.

Esper: Cosmos
Role: Damage
Arc: Gas
Chiz is another DPS character who performs decently in Remora and Blossom teams, but her kit can be complex. Like Baicang, you can rely on basic attacks if you don’t want to delve into the specifics of her Skill activation for maximum damage. Chiz’s combat revolves around building Grain stacks through basic attacks, then using her Skill three times in succession. Be sure to hit her Skill during her Ultimate state when the chart visual is at a high percentage, with 50% being optimal. As a bonus, you can obtain Chiz and all her Awakening copies for free by playing through Tycoon mode. While she may be complicated, having a free A6, S-Class character is a significant advantage.

Esper: Anima
Role: Damage
Arc: Solid
Jiuyuan may not have the flashiest kit in Neverness to Everness, but she does sport a pretty stylish hat. She’s a versatile burst DPS capable of taking on both mob enemies and single-target bosses while controlling the battlefield with her Skill. Compared to her fellow S-Class characters Baicang and Chiz, Jiuyuan’s kit is refreshingly simple. Just use her Skill and Ultimate when available, and hold down the basic attack button when the gun symbols at the bottom of the screen are filled. She excels in Blossom teams—so team her with a Chaos character—but can also activate Hexed with Incantation characters and apply Charge by using Anima when Remora is active (Cosmos + Lakshana).

Esper: Lakshana
Role: Damage
Arc: Plasma
Hathor is a burst DPS who thrives in Remora teams. That’s her specialty, and it works exceptionally well. You’ll want to activate her Ultimate and summon Hathor’s motorcycle as often as possible, as that’s where most of her damage comes from. Additionally, remember to charge Hathor’s Skill to apply continuous Lakshana damage and build her unique Express Delivery Power stacks, which are used to summon another motorcycle when her Skill is activated within five seconds of her Ultimate.

Esper: Incantation
Role: Survival
Arc: Synthesis
As a free A-Class character, Alder’s personal damage doesn’t quite measure up to S-Class characters, but he compensates with his passive skill that enhances Scorch, provides a temporary shield through his Skill, and performs well against both mobs and single-target bosses. Alder becomes a more viable sub DPS after his first Awakening, but his lack of attack scaling limits his potential. Characters like Haniel and Sakiri can’t buff him, but if a future character buffs defense, Alder could rise in the tier list. For now, he’s a decent free-to-play option for Scorch teams, so make sure to include a Chaos character to apply Scorch.

Esper: Anima
Role: Damage
Arc: Liquid
Welcome to the “why are my favorite characters always so mid?” club, Mint. Say hi to Sampo from Honkai: Star Rail for me. As a free A-Class main DPS, Mint’s not exactly a powerhouse, but she can still tackle tough challenges with the right teammates and after activating her first Awakening. Her kit is straightforward; just spam her Skill and Ultimate when available, and basic attack in between. Pair her with a Cosmos character to leverage Mint’s Blossom Enhancement passive, and you’ve got the foundation of a decent team—not great, but good enough.

Esper: Lakshana
Role: Damage
Arc: Gas
Skia also faces the challenge of being an A-Class main DPS, but he’s free, easy to use, and fits well in Remora teams thanks to his Remora Enhancement passive. His kit revolves around implanting Fang Thrusts on enemies with basic attacks and Skills, then enhancing these Thrusts by activating his Ultimate. He only becomes competitive with top-tier characters after unlocking all his Awakenings, which boost his Fang Thrust damage.

Esper: Psyche
Role: Damage
Arc: Plasma
Aurelia requires a lot of field time to deal decent damage, but she does ride a jellyfish in combat, so it’s a mixed bag. She excels in Nova teams due to her passive skill, so team her with a Chaos character to activate this. After that, she’s relatively easy to play; just hold down the dodge button while moving to unleash blasts while riding her jellyfish. This attack is even more potent with Aurelia’s Skill active, and you can maximize damage by using her Ultimate and executing perfect dodges when possible. As with A-Class characters, unlocking all her Awakenings is crucial for Aurelia to stand a chance against tough bosses.

Esper: Cosmos
Role: Survival
Arc: Liquid
Typically, being a healer guarantees a character a spot in almost any team composition in a gacha game, but Edgar somehow manages to defy that logic. While healing is beneficial, it’s all Edgar offers, and he’s not particularly effective at it. You’d be better off using a character who can shield or tank damage, as they provide additional attacks and buffs. If you’re determined to use Edgar, he’s best suited for Charge teams, requiring an Anima character to apply Anima to Remora (Cosmos + Lakshana).

Hotori will join Neverness to Everness when Nanally’s banner concludes on May 14. Hotori is an S-Class burst DPS who also enhances team damage. She’s a Cosmos Esper wielding a Solid Arc weapon.

Although she was playable in earlier betas, Lacrimosa won’t be available at the launch of Neverness to Everness. However, she’s likely to appear in a limited-time banner in version 1.1, as her drip marketing was revealed similarly to how other gachas announce upcoming characters. In the beta, Lacrimosa was a DPS with a Chaos Esper Cycle and a Liquid Arc weapon, but this may change in the future.
