Man Spends Night in Best Buy to Score Pokémon Cards

Pokémon scalpers are a real nuisance in the community. They stir up chaos and make what should be an enjoyable experience feel toxic and expensive. However, there are rare moments when their antics can be amusing, like what happened at a Best Buy in Pasadena. There, a guy was actually hiding inside the store, waiting for his chance to be first in line for a new Pokémon card release.

On April 29, a crowd of fans (and likely some scalpers) gathered outside the Best Buy when local law enforcement showed up in response to a tip-off about a man lurking inside the closed store, seemingly biding his time until the cards went on sale with the morning opening.

Fortunately, it seems no one was harmed, but the man was arrested, preventing him from making a mad dash for the cards. While we often poke fun at these individuals for ruining the hobby for others, I have to admit, if I didn’t think this guy was up to no good, I might actually respect his dedication. Thankfully, his scheme was thwarted, much like the foil cards he hoped to snag.
