Pokémon Red and Blue manga makes a comeback this fall with a special deluxe edition.

The beloved Pokémon comic series, Pokémon Adventures, is making a comeback this fall with a deluxe rerelease. This week, it was announced that Pokémon Adventures: Red and Blue Deluxe Edition Vol. 1 will hit shelves on October 27, featuring a hefty 476 pages of content.

In our look back at the official Pokémon manga, we noted that Pokémon Adventures: Red and Blue “reveals the franchise’s dark side.” Satoshi Tajiri, the creator of Pokémon, remarked that this series “most resembles the world I was trying to convey.”

Crafted by Hidenori Kusaka and originally illustrated by Mato, the Pokémon Adventures manga is divided into arcs that align with the Pokémon games from Game Freak. Red and Blue follows the journey of protagonist Red as he faces off against his rival Blue, navigating perilous areas, battling Gym Leaders for badges, and uncovering the mysteries of Pokémon. In a classic twist, Red and Blue must ultimately join forces to take down a shared adversary.

While there are already collector’s editions of Pokémon Adventures: Red and Blue, this deluxe edition boasts new cover art and comes in a stylish hardcover format, making it a perfect addition to any Pokémon manga collection.

Since its debut in 1997, Pokémon Adventures has consistently released new volumes to align with the Pokémon game series. The latest iteration of the manga is based on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, featuring trainers Violet Lang and Scarlet Koito.

Pokémon Adventures: Red and Blue, Deluxe Edition, Vol. 1 will be available on October 27 for $29.99, and it can be pre-ordered at various local and online retailers.

Additionally, keep an eye out for Pokécology: An Illustrated Guide to Pokémon Ecology, set to release in 2026.
