Celebrate Overwatch’s 10th Anniversary with a Treasure Trove of Free Rewards!

Overwatch is hitting the big 1-0 this May, and to mark this significant milestone, Blizzard Entertainment is rolling out a treasure trove of free goodies for players. Among the highlights are 21 exclusive launch hero skins, giving a fresh, epic purple look to the original heroes available before Ana joined the roster in 2016.

Players can also look forward to 15 Anniversary loot boxes, though the contents remain a mystery for now. Additionally, there will be opportunities to earn weekly Legendary loot boxes through “community challenges.” Other exciting freebies include 33 2D cosmetics crafted by the dev team and the community, plus five weapon charms, one of which celebrates the 10th anniversary.

The in-game celebration for Overwatch’s 10th anniversary kicks off on May 12 and runs until June 1.

As we await more details, including images and official announcements about the anniversary cosmetics, it’s worth noting that while many fans are thrilled about the free rewards, some are expressing disappointment. The anniversary offerings seem modest compared to what players in China will receive this month. Chinese players are set to enjoy an impressive lineup of 40 Legendary skins and nine Mythic skins, along with loot boxes filled with Mythic Prisms, Legendary skins, Overwatch coins, and more.

Additionally, players in China will gain access to exclusive local skins, including a much-desired Ramattra skin themed around… housework?

It’s important to remember that Overwatch in China is managed by NetEase, not Blizzard, which limits the developer’s influence over regional releases. Moreover, Chinese players missed out on several years of content after the split between NetEase and Blizzard in 2022, which explains the disparity in rewards.

For now, Overwatch fans will have to enjoy the 10th anniversary offerings, which will be available with the weekly update on Tuesday.

Overwatch is playable on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. The latest season launched in April, introducing a new Damage hero, Sierra, to the lineup.

10 new heroes, a year-long story, and a name change are just the beginning.
