Vin Diesel Unveils Four New Fast & Furious TV Series Inspired by Yellowstone
The family is expanding — and it could get a lot bigger. Recently, Vin Diesel, known for his role in the Fast and Furious franchise, revealed that Universal Television is developing four new TV shows set in the Fast and Furious “universe.” One of these projects is a live-action series that will be available on NBCUniversal’s Peacock.
Diesel is set to executive produce this adaptation, with Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman on board to write the pilot. Daniels has a background in vehicle-centric shows like Sons of Anarchy and Pan Am, and he’s also working on a revival of The Rockford Files, which featured plenty of car chases. He and Coleman previously collaborated on Shades of Blue, a series that followed an NYPD detective going undercover to expose corruption within her department.
While specific details about the Fast and Furious TV spinoffs are still under wraps, Diesel has hinted that the shows will delve into the stories of “legacy characters” from the franchise. This opens up a treasure trove of possibilities for the series.
Although none of these ideas are confirmed, they certainly present intriguing concepts that could catch the interest of producers. With Universal reportedly committed to four Fast and Furious shows, the franchise could be gearing up to become the next big thing, akin to Yellowstone or CSI, featuring multiple variations on a common theme and plenty of crossover potential. Imagine a series that shifts focus from the high-speed street racers to the various government task forces tasked with tracking them down.
The Fast and Furious franchise has already made its mark on television with the animated series Fast & Furious Spy Racers. This kid-friendly show followed Tony Toretto, Dominic Toretto’s younger cousin, and a group of teenage street racers who were recruited to infiltrate a criminal organization. Fast & Furious Spy Racers streamed on Netflix for a total of 52 episodes.
Meanwhile, Diesel and his team have faced challenges in delivering the follow-up to Fast X, the 2023 film intended to be the penultimate entry in the Fast and Furious saga. The final film, titled Fast Forever, is currently slated for release on March 17, 2028.
Keeping up with the story of Dom Toretto and his family can be surprisingly complex.
