Panasonic Unveils the Compact Lumix L10, Designed for Photography Enthusiasts

Panasonic has unveiled a new entry in its Lumix camera lineup, the Lumix L10, designed specifically for photographers rather than video creators. This compact camera is now available for preorder, offered in black or silver for $1,499.99. To mark the 25th anniversary of the Lumix brand, a limited edition titanium gold version will also be released, complete with matching accessories and software, priced at $1,599.99, primarily through Panasonic’s online store.

Weighing in at 508 grams, the Lumix L10 boasts a magnesium alloy front and a metal body partially wrapped in a textured finish that mimics saffiano leather. At its core is a 20.4MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor, the same as that found in the Lumix GH7. While the GH7 excels in video capabilities, the L10 is tailored for still photography. It can record 4K video at up to 120fps in various formats, including Panasonic’s MP4 Lite, but its compact design limits heat dissipation, which affects recording duration.

The camera features a 24-75mm Leica lens with an aperture range of f/1.7 to f/2.8, adjustable via a lens ring. It also supports macro photography, allowing autofocus on subjects as close as 3cm. The L10 employs a phase hybrid focus system with 779 autofocus points across the frame, utilizing an AI-driven real-time recognition system to track moving subjects, including eyes, faces, bodies, animals, and vehicles. High-speed shooting capabilities reach up to 30fps with the electronic shutter or 11fps with the mechanical shutter.

On the rear, the L10 is equipped with an articulated 1.84-million-dot screen and a 2.36-million-dot OLED viewfinder. A dedicated button allows users to load and apply various color effects and simulated film styles, which can be customized through Panasonic’s Lumix Lab mobile app and uploaded directly to the camera.
