Lego Unveils Its Largest Lord of the Rings Set Yet: The $650 Minas Tirith Castle

Lego is gearing up to release an exciting new set for all the Lord of the Rings enthusiasts out there. The upcoming Minas Tirith set boasts over 8,000 pieces and includes nine minifigures, making it one of the largest Lego sets in recent years and the biggest Lord of the Rings-themed set to date.

On May 12, Lego unveiled the Minas Tirith set (11377), which they describe as a “hybrid microscale and minifigure-scale design.” This innovative approach allows builders to appreciate the grandeur of the iconic city while also exploring key locations, such as the throne room as depicted in Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

Minas Tirith features a staggering 8,278 pieces and will retail for $650 in the United States upon its release on June 1 for Lego Insiders, with general availability starting on June 4.

Standing nearly two feet tall, almost two feet wide, and 14 inches deep, this set will require ample display space once completed. Additionally, if you order the set between June 1 and June 6, you’ll receive a bonus gift: a small set featuring some Orks and a battering ram.

The impressive Minas Tirith set also includes minifigures of Gandalf the White, Faramir, Denethor, Peregrin Took, Aragorn as King Elessar, Arwen, and four Soldiers of Gondor, each equipped with various accessories. Many Lego Lord of the Rings fans are particularly thrilled to finally see Aragorn in his coronation outfit, making this set even more appealing. And for those less interested in the minifigures, the new Aragorn figure could fetch a nice price on the resale market.
