Pokémon Winds and Waves Unveils Surprising New Design
Pokémon WindsandWaves was unveiled in February as part of the celebration for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary. The announcement trailer gave eager trainers a glimpse of what to expect in this upcoming mainline Pokémon adventure, including a first look at the new starter trio from Generation 10 (which are all fantastic).
Recently, a new video was released showcasing the behind-the-scenes process of recording the main theme song for WindsandWaves. This video features a performance by the NHK Symphony Orchestra, and fans have already expressed their excitement. One viewer noted, “There’s something about live-recorded music for video games that’s so satisfying to listen to,” in response to the recording footage.
The video is interspersed with visuals from the game, but don’t get your hopes up for new content—most of the clips are recycled from the original trailer, leaving fans with little new material to dissect. Nevertheless, that hasn’t stopped the Pokémon community from speculating about what WindsandWaves might bring.
The initial trailer provided plenty of details to analyze, sparking discussions about a mysterious cloud and a fresh look for Nurse Joy. The speculation also extended to Pokémon Pokopi, with fans pondering whether the spin-off hinted at a new Pokémon.
In WindsandWaves, Pikachu is getting a fresh twist as well, transforming into Mr. Windychu and Ms. Wavychu, the only new Pokémon revealed so far besides the starters. As we approach the release of Pokémon WindsandWaves, expected in 2027 for the Nintendo Switch 2, fans can anticipate more Pokémon to be unveiled gradually.
Reliable leakers have also shared a map illustration that outlines all the islands in the game, including the types of gyms players can expect to encounter.
