KPop Demon Hunters Announce World Tour Dates
After rumors started swirling in March about a potential live concert tour inspired by the animated musical sensation KPop Demon Hunters, Netflix has officially confirmed the project during its Upfront event.
While specific details are still under wraps, the show will be a collaboration between Netflix and live entertainment company AEG Presents.
“Clearly, nothing has captured global attention quite like KPop Demon Hunters,” said Netflix’s president of ad sales, Amy Reinhard, to the Upfront audience. “We’ve seen sing-alongs, Halloween costumes, shoutouts at major events, and even a notable increase in flights booked to Korea. Today, KPop Demon Hunters remains the most popular film on Netflix, and we’re thrilled to announce that next year, in partnership with AEG Presents, we’re launching our very first world concert tour. This live experience will bring fans even closer to the characters and music they adore, and we want you to be part of it. More details about the cities will be shared later this year, so stay tuned.”
At this point, we don’t have much information about the show, other than it will bring elements from the movie “to life.” This could take the form of a stage performance akin to Disney on Ice or a more traditional digital concert similar to those featuring characters like Hatsune Miku. There’s no word yet on whether vocalists Ejae, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna, who voice the demon-slaying idols, will be involved, but it would be great to hear them perform something live beyond “Golden.”
Dates and locations will be revealed later, but Netflix has launched a website for fans to sign up for updates as they become available.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of Netflix’s deal with directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans for a multiyear partnership to create a sequel to the original film, which currently holds the title of the most-streamed film on the platform.
