A Guide to Finding Strong Acid in Subnautica 2
Crafting Strong Acid in Subnautica 2 is essential for creating a Power Cell, which is crucial for getting your Tadpole mini-sub operational. Unlike Mild Acid, which you can easily gather from Acidic Raion organisms scattered throughout the environment, Strong Acid requires a bit more effort as you’ll need to hunt down Necrolei Cysts.
To start, you’ll need a Processor facility to create Strong Acid. First, scan a Processor to unlock its blueprint. You can find one in the Old Habitat, located about 350 meters north of the Life Pod. This area is also part of a mission where you’ll be tasked with locating a black box, but only after you’ve found the other items on your list.
While you’re exploring the Old Habitat, make sure to collect the Necrolei Cysts necessary for crafting Strong Acid. These turquoise flowers can be harvested in the jellyfish forest. Head north from the Life Pod until you notice a bluish tint and the appearance of Jelly Lei structures with tentacles on either side.
Once you reach the Old Habitat, turn left towards the large plants with pink tendrils. Nearby, you’ll spot Stilt Orbs, which are orbs perched on pink tentacles with flowers on top. The Necrolei Cysts grow from these orbs. Use your Survival Multitool to cut off the cysts and collect them.
You’ll need two Necrolei Cysts for each Strong Acid, so it’s a good idea to gather several while you’re in the area. After collecting enough, return to your base, build the Processor, and you’ll be ready to start crafting.
Additionally, you can create Strong Acid using sulfur and gold. Sulfur can be found in regions populated by large Coral Crabs, while gold requires you to unlock the Heat Tolerance adaptation, making it a more time-consuming option compared to the Necrolei Cyst method.
