Unlocking the Repair Tool in Subnautica 2: A Quick Guide
The Repair Tool is a crucial gadget in Subnautica 2, which might seem odd since you don’t have to repair your tools like in many other survival games—all they need is a fresh battery. However, your vehicles, such as the impressive Tadpole, and your base can sustain damage, and you definitely don’t want to keep rebuilding them.
To craft your own Repair Tool, you’ll need to locate enough fragments to unlock the blueprint. Fortunately, gathering these pieces isn’t too challenging, as they can be found just a short swim away from the Lifepod.
To unlock the Repair Tool blueprint, you need to scan three fragments. The good news is that there are more than three fragments available, so you may have already scanned a couple.
In the video above, I demonstrate the three Repair Tool fragments I found, all conveniently located near the Lifepod:
Once you’ve scanned three fragments, you’ll unlock the blueprint and can create the Repair Tool at a fully functional Fabricator using the following materials:
As you’d expect, the Repair Tool is primarily used for mending your vehicles, like the Tadpole. From my experience, it’s easy to bump this submarine into rocks and incur unnecessary damage, so I always keep the Repair Tool handy for quick repairs. Plus, there are hostile creatures that can attack your pod, causing even more harm.
Additionally, the Repair Tool can be used to access certain doors. For instance, within the shipwreck northeast of the Lifepod, where I suggest you find the third fragment, you can break open doors to obtain the Rebreather blueprint.
