Unlocking the Feedback Resonator Upgrade in Subnautica 2

Upgrading the Feedback Resonator in Subnautica 2 enhances your Sonic Resonator by enabling it to fire projectiles. This upgrade is essential for dealing with the pesky viral flowers found in the Angel Comb area of the Alien Ruins, which tend to close up when you approach.

To eliminate these flowers and clear the area, you’ll need to attack from a distance, something the standard Resonator can’t manage. To obtain this upgrade, you’ll require the Tadpole Depth module, but you can acquire the upgrade itself at any time.

You’ll need to scan two Feedback Resonators to unlock the blueprint, both of which are located in the glowing green abyssal pool area filled with Metal Farms. This spot is roughly 870 meters away, at about 75 degrees northeast from the Alien Ruins Research Base, and sits around 450 meters deep, which is the maximum depth for the Tadpole Depth Module.

Be cautious, as this area is home to various predators and a leviathan that patrols above the pools. I suggest following the route shown in the video or detailed below for a safer approach. While the leviathan generally won’t bother you, keep an eye on its position. If you hear the ominous music indicating it’s focused on you, quickly hide your Tadpole behind the alien structures or the Metal Farms.

Don’t forget to bring a Repair Tool and some healing items, as you’ll need to leave your Tadpole to perform the scans, and you might encounter some hostile creatures.

If you can’t access the video for directions, here’s how to get there:

This area also features Troilite and blueprints for the Metal Farm, which you can obtain by scanning the pillars, along with the Axum Bacterial Culture needed to construct one by breaking the material in the pool. It might be worth collecting these resources while you’re there, or you can always come back later.

Once you have the Feedback Resonator upgrade, you can craft it at the Modification Station, so make sure to build one in your new base if you haven’t done so already. If you haven’t unlocked the blueprint yet, you can find it inside the Alien Ruins Research Base. The crafting process will require:

Select the Prototype Tool Modification option and choose the Feedback Resonator. To craft it, you’ll need:

Conduit Crystals can be found on ledges near the Angel Comb you encountered earlier and around the alien structures in the deeper areas. Strontium is processed with additional Celestine, while Enameled Glass is created by combining regular glass with Creature Enamel at the Fabricator.
