A Guide to Finding Troilite in Subnautica 2
Acquiring Troilite in Subnautica 2 is crucial for crafting Mangalloy Ingots, but this resource is significantly rarer than Atacamite, and its availability is quite limited. Many players have found themselves in a bind after converting all their Troilite into Mangalloy Ingots, leaving them unable to gather more.
The issue arises because even Metal Farms, which allow you to produce a metal of your choice, require you to insert a sample of that metal first. Therefore, it’s essential to keep at least one Troilite for future use in a Metal Farm, as you’ll need a substantial amount later to repair the Alien Power Plant and advance the storyline.
You can locate Troilite in the glowing green pool area near the Metal Farms, situated to the northeast of the Alien Ruins Research Base, approximately 870 meters away at a compass bearing of around 75 degrees. This spot is quite deep, around 450 meters, which is the limit for your Tadpole, even with the Depth Module equipped.
Be cautious, as this area is patrolled by a leviathan and other predators, so bring a Repair Tool for your Tadpole and some healing items.
In this location, Troilite will appear as “Mineralized Clinker” when you examine it, resembling green algae clinging to a rock. Additionally, you can find the Metal Farm blueprint by scanning the pillars, along with the Feedback Resonator and the Axum Bacterial Culture, all of which are worth collecting if you have the time.
Since Troilite is quite scarce and you’ll need ten of them later to craft Mangalloy Ingots for the Alien Power Plant repair, it’s wise to hold onto at least one Troilite to ensure you can produce more in a Metal Farm.
This strategy will help you avoid running out of resources or waiting for ore nodes to respawn, which is currently uncertain.
