Unlock the Budget Hullcracker: How to Get Arc Raiders’ New Gun

The Rascal is a fresh addition to Arc Raiders in the 1.29.0 update, introduced alongside the Nomadic Envoy rotating trader. This compact rocket launcher is a charming alternative to the Hullcracker, designed to be more affordable and easier to handle. As a dependable anti-Arc sidearm, it’s a welcome tool, especially given the threats lurking in the Riven Tides map.

So, how can you snag the Rascal? While patch notes hint that Tian Wen is the seller, that’s not quite right—she’s actually been hoarding them in containers around Topside, cackling as she does. To get your hands on this grenade launcher and its blueprint, you’ll need to put in some effort and a bit of luck.

The Rascal is classified as a rare (blue) quality weapon, meaning it can appear in all the usual high-loot areas—there’s no fixed spawn point like with the Dolabra and Canto. I suggest checking locked key rooms, opening Security Breach cabinets (you’ll need the corresponding skill), and engaging in Beachcombing on the Riven Tides map. Long gun cases are also a solid bet, as they frequently yield blue weapons.

These activities have an increased chance of dropping rare items like the Rascal, especially following the recent buff to key rooms. Additionally, modifiers like Night Raid or Hurricane, which enhance loot value, will boost your chances even further.

Although Riven Tides has the fewest Security Breach lockers at just nine, you can combine this with Beachcombing if the match is calm enough. With a bit of luck, you might find the Rascal blueprint in just a few tries. For more tips, check out the playlist from a YouTuber who covers all the Security Breach locations.

If you’re on the hunt for the blueprint, keep an eye on the Nomadic Envoy Trader, as he rotates blueprints and might offer one for this weapon.

Once you find the Rascal blueprint, you’ll need the following materials to craft it:

Since the Rascal is designed to be a budget-friendly alternative to the Hullcracker, don’t expect it to match the same performance. It holds only one shot in the chamber and has a slow reload speed, though upgrading it can help. Its accuracy leaves something to be desired, so it’s best used against larger Arcs like Bastions or Bombardiers, which are easier to hit. It can take down a Shredder, my arch-nemesis, in three shots, making it worth the effort.
