Two Essential RPGs Depart Xbox Game Pass in May
After the price drop for Xbox Game Pass in April, gamers turned their attention to the first wave of new titles making their debut on the service. This wave included standout indie games like Mixtape and major releases such as Forza Horizon 6. However, a few titles, including Planet of Lana, bid farewell mid-month.
On Tuesday, Xbox revealed the upcoming additions to Game Pass for the remainder of May, but the most significant news is the games that will be leaving the service. Xbox Game Pass subscribers will lose access to two fantastic Atlus RPGs on May 31.
First up is Metaphor: ReFantazio, an expansive RPG that draws heavily from the Persona series. Following the assassination of the king, a tournament is organized to find his successor, and you step into the role of a candidate vying for the throne. Your adventure will take you across the world as you gather allies, explore numerous dungeons, and engage in the game’s turn-based combat. Metaphor: ReFantazio was nominated for Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2024, winning accolades for Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best Role-Playing Game.
The second title leaving Xbox Game Pass this month is Persona 4 Golden, an enhanced version of the beloved 2008 RPG that made its way to Xbox consoles and other platforms in 2023. In this game, you’ll delve into a series of murders in the Japanese countryside while navigating an alternate dimension known as TV World, accessed through television sets. It features turn-based combat, dungeon exploration, and the series’ iconic calendar system.
