A new Brandon Sanderson series is set to make its TV debut.
Brandon Sanderson’s stories are set to make their way to your screen.
In January, Sanderson struck a deal with Apple TV to adapt his expansive Cosmere universe, but that’s just the beginning. Recently, it was reported that another one of his sci-fi works is getting the TV treatment from the studio known for the live-action adaptation of a popular anime series.
Tomorrow Studios will be bringing the young adult novel *Skyward* and its sequels to life. This series is part of Sanderson’s Cytoverse, which includes four novels along with several novellas and short stories. *Skyward* follows a teenager aspiring to become a pilot, determined to protect humanity in the midst of a perilous war.
“I’ve been working on the Skyward series for nearly a decade, and to have a partner like Tomorrow Studios to help bring this story to television is a dream come true,” Sanderson expressed. He will also be penning the script for the pilot episode.
With a prolific career that has seen him write numerous epic fantasy and sci-fi novels, Sanderson’s works have sold over 50 million copies. However, he was initially cautious about Hollywood adaptations, expressing concerns about the stability of the streaming market as recently as late 2024. “I’m not convinced that we have hit stability in the streaming market,” he mentioned in an interview. “Streaming has had a big problem with epic fantasy, and this has me worried. […] Streaming hasn’t figured out epic fantasy yet.”
It seems his perspective on streaming and Hollywood has evolved, as he is now involved in overseeing the *Mistborn* movie and adapting *Skyward*.
