No Trailer Needed to Enjoy the Highlights of Summer Game Fest
Summer Game Fest is all about the trailers, but this year, some of the most captivating highlights don’t need a dramatic score or a flashy introduction. Now in its fifth year, Game Maker’s Sketchbook is a celebration of video game art organized by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, iam8bit, and fortyseven communications. This year’s showcase features a diverse array of artwork from various teams in the industry, ranging from thought-provoking conceptual pieces and beautifully crafted environments to detailed character designs. Each artwork provides a glimpse into the creative journey that turns game concepts into interactive experiences.
You can explore the works in the Game Maker’s Sketchbook online gallery, and they will also be on display during Summer Game Fest: Play Days in Los Angeles from June 6 to June 8.
“Game Maker’s Sketchbook exists to honor the incredible artists whose work shapes our gaming experiences — the visuals, worlds, and identities that resonate with players long after they’ve played,” said the president of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. “In our fifth year, we’re excited to highlight the art that makes interactive entertainment so engaging.”
Prints of all eighteen featured selections are available for order through the iam8bit store until June 25. Every purchase supports nonprofit initiatives led by Day of the Devs and the AIAS Foundation, promoting the art of games while encouraging a more inclusive and creatively vibrant future for the industry.
