Upcoming Vampire: The Masquerade Tabletop Game Emphasizes Human-Created Content

A fresh tabletop RPG project set in the world of Vampire: The Masquerade is currently in development at White Wolf, with a strong emphasis on using human-created art instead of AI-generated visuals.

During a panel at Darkness Emergent 2026 on May 22, White Wolf announced that they are working on a new tabletop RPG tied to Vampire: The Masquerade. While details were sparse in this initial reveal by creative director Jess Lanzillo, we do know that more information will be shared during “The Future of White Wolf” panel at Gen Con 2026, where an Actual Play playtest will also take place.

In their announcement, White Wolf highlighted that the game design prioritizes player agency, collaboration, and a personal experience. This new project aims to enhance the storytelling and lore of Vampire: The Masquerade, ensuring these elements are intricately woven into the gameplay.

Additionally, the announcement hinted that the game will be “built around illustration, with a strong commitment to human-made work.” This seems to be a response to the controversies surrounding AI use and art theft in other tabletop RPGs and card games, such as Magic: The Gathering.

In 2024, Hasbro faced backlash for using an AI-generated image to promote Magic: The Gathering, and earlier this year, an artist’s work was misappropriated to create a One Ring card for a crossover with The Hobbit. White Wolf’s commitment to human-made art ahead of the game’s launch is a promising move, especially as AI-generated content increasingly infiltrates the tabletop gaming scene. This approach could also help the company regain favor with fans following the mixed reception of recent video games like Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2.

More details about this new Vampire: The Masquerade project will be revealed at Gen Con 2026, which is set to take place in Indianapolis from July 3 to August 2.
