LA Thieves Claim Victory in CDL Major 3 with Exciting Win Against OpTic Texas

LA Thieves clinched their first Major trophy of the Call of Duty League (CDL) season, triumphing in a nail-biting 4-3 showdown against OpTic Texas in the grand final of CDL Major 3 at DreamHack Atlanta.

Fresh off a victory in the CDL Stage 3 Minor, the Thieves celebrated their inaugural Major title in the Black Ops 7 era. The roster, featuring Scrap, aBeZy, HyDra, and Nium, also took home the $150,000 prize and secured 100 CDL points, bringing their total to 305 and nearly locking in their spot for CoD Champs 2026.

After an initial playoff loss, the Los Angeles squad fought their way through the lower bracket, taking down four teams before preventing OpTic Texas from adding another Major trophy to their collection.

OpTic had a strong start, winning their first two matches in Group A and advancing through the upper bracket with decisive victories over Miami Heretics (3-0), Riyadh Falcons (3-2), and Toronto KOI (3-2).

In contrast, LA Thieves faced a tougher path to the finals. After finishing first in Group C, Scrap and his teammates fell to FaZe Vegas 2-3 in their opening playoff match. They rebounded by defeating G2 Minnesota (3-1), Falcons (3-0), FaZe (3-1), and KOI (3-0).

During the grand final, the Thieves had to rally as OpTic secured the first championship point, thanks to Dashy’s impressive quickscope in the SnD Game 5 on Scar.

LA Thieves leveled the series with a narrow 5-4 win in Game 6 on Overload, where Scrap clinched the final point following a Hellstorm Strike from Nium that took out Shotzzy and Dashy.

Riding the wave of momentum, the Thieves dominated the decisive SnD on Den, with Scrap pulling off a clutch 1v2 against Huke and Mercules to seal their remarkable title run.

Scrap earned the Most Valuable Player award for his standout performances throughout the tournament, particularly in the high-stakes Game 7 of the grand final, where he achieved a 1.80 K/D rating.

The defending world champions, OpTic, have now faced three consecutive losses in CDL Major finals, following defeats in Stage 1 to Paris Gentle Mates and Stage 2 to FaZe Vegas.

Despite this setback, the Green Wall remains at the top of the CDL Regular Season standings with 390 points.

The Call of Duty League will feature one more Minor and Major in Stage 4, scheduled from May 29 to June 25, before wrapping up the season with the CoD Champs in July.
