Record Club Aims to Become the Letterboxd for Music Enthusiasts

For music enthusiasts seeking a platform akin to Goodreads or Letterboxd, Record Club is stepping up to fill that gap. While Rate Your Music exists, its cluttered interface leans more towards in-depth reviews rather than simply tracking your listening habits and connecting with fellow fans. Record Club offers a sleek, modern design reminiscent of Letterboxd, making it user-friendly.

The site includes all the essential features you’d expect. You can rate and review albums or mark them as listened to, and you can check out what your friends are jamming to, along with trending albums among users. Your profile allows you to showcase your five favorite albums and five records you’re currently spinning. Plus, you can create and share custom lists, whether ranked or unranked, which is perfect for curating your top albums of the year or crafting genre-specific playlists. There’s also a queue feature to help you keep track of albums you want to check out later, which I know I’ll be using a lot.

You can follow your favorite artists and entire record labels, making it easy to keep up with new sounds from labels like 4AD, AD 93, Fire Talk, and Warp. Record Club sources its data from the open-source music encyclopedia MusicBrainz. If you decide to join, feel free to follow me and see what I’m currently spinning on repeat!
